Ever see a show that makes you shake your head and say "Damn, I wish I could make dialog sparkle like that"?
Well, Sports Night is that show. I just randomly caught a rerun episode on Comedy Central today and I was floored by how wonderful it was.
NOTE: Personally, I would rather do the lawn/laundry than watch a sports show which was a big reason I never wanted to see the show. Though eventually, I "wokeup" and watched it starting in the middle of the second season; right up to the finale.
There is the comfortableness of a sitcom without the trappings of the formula. Aaron Sorkin's pre-West Wing work. Rapid-fire dialog. Cerebral and heartfelt. Flirty and profoundly watchable. If you care about this sort of things like reviews, reviews of the DVD set are here and here
