For the last 4 years, I have been really in love with the "Powered by the Apocalypse" system.
It captures the flavor of the genre being tackled (i.e. Dungeons, WWI female pilots, Teenage superheroes, Mexican Narcos, etc.) and removes a lot of the number crunching in favor of living out characters via guided actions lined out in various playbooks.
But I just read through the AGON 2nd Edition and wow...
It is captures all of the spirit, bravado, capricious gods and flexibility of the crazy Jason and the Argonauts and Xena adventures and even the Percy Jackson books but somehow manages to be EVEN MORE streamlined and YET more directed for new players than PBTA.

It is a really breathtaking game design.
