Very cool retrospective history of CheapAss Games (in PDF) - FREE!

In case you are looking for some game history to read, this is a huge tome of games which was meant to use pieces from existing game pieces and dice from other game board games along with these black and white rules sets.

NOTE: This PDF does include the rulebook of most all of the games but not the actual cards and other things needed to play the game. UPDATED: some of the games are found here. (link here)

I really loved James Ernest's games from this era in the late Ninety's.

My favorites are
  1. Kill Doctor Lucky which is kind of a take off on Clue and the real-world game of Killer.-   https://cheapass.com/free-games/originals/kill-doctor-lucky
  2. Button Men where everyone "likes to beat people up"- https://cheapass.com/free-games/button-men/

  1. When I worked at Berkeley Systems (Flying Toaster guys) in the late 90's we made some PC versions of CheapAss titles (never published). I worked briefly on Kill Doctor Lucky. Best part--we got to play them a lot :)

  2. Very cool! The CheapAss games were surprisingly good. Price wasn't any indicator of quality. Reminded me the old days of "Microgaming".

I really loved this quote in the book.

“Quantity is a kind of quality.”
